Hands down, Wang’s Fast Food is the best Chinese takeout outside of Chinatown. Reminiscent of the fast and tasty dives in NYC, this Winter Hill gem offers authentic cuisine that’s not soiled by American taste buds or SMG nastiness. There’s a family-owned pride that’s obvious with this Magoun Square hotspot. The owner and her mom literally wrap their famous dumplings by hand. And, for those looking to satiate their late-night cravings, Wang’s is open daily (except when they're closed on Tues) until 1 am.

Located in the heart of Magoun Square in Somerville, Pini's Pizzeria is a great little pizza joint on Broadway. While the shop doesn’t have a sit-down dining room, their claim to fame is their fast and courteous delivery and stellar NYC-style pizza pies made with fresh meats and cheeses. Craving something non-traditional? Try Pini's gourmet pizzas like the Roasted Red Pepper-roni or the Zsa Zsa (white pizza).

Lil Vinny’s Ristorante in Somerville’s Magoun Square is a classic, old-school Italian eatery with a “Rat Pack” panache. While the close-knit working class population of the old Somerville may be rapidly disappearing this throwback to a bygone era continues to resist change. You can't go wrong with the traditional cuisine at Lil Vinny's including the chicken pomodoro, ziti and meatballs, spinach ravioli and veal parmigiana.

Excellent watering hole found in the heart of Somerville’s Magoun Square on Medford Street. Olde Magoun Saloon’s beer menu is to die for with brews ranging from seasonal Sam Adams to Hofbrau to Red Seal. They also sport a stellar draught selection including Stella Artois, Hoeggarden and Guinness. The saloon’s pub grub includes Magoun’s Chili (several meats including kielbasa, steak and sausage with cheese) and Carolina Bites (pulled pork and coleslaw).

Greek-style pizza and subs in the heart of Somerville’s Magoun Square. Greek pizza is generally less greasy. However, it takes several napkins to sop up the drippings from this Medford Street joint. White Sport offers an eclectic selection of atypical sides including broccoli bites, stuffed olives and fried graviolis. The cook is from Greece so try their traditional Mediteranean plates including the gyro or souvlaki dinners. Also, their Brazilian gourmet pizza (which includes bacon, pepperoni and chicken) is oddly tasty.
